Frequently asked questions
You are entitled to flight compensation if your flight is canceled less than 2 weeks before departure (and you are not offered re-routing according to the rules in the Air Regulation). Ask us if you are unsure.
You are also entitled to flight compensation if your flight is delayed more than 3 hours or if you are denied boarding on the flight (denied boarding).
If your flight is canceled, you have the following options
- A refund of the full purchase price of the ticket. You must receive the money within 7 days of the cancellation
- Rescheduling of your trip
This follows from Article 5(1)(a) of the Air Regulation, cf. Article 8(1)(a-c).
We need your flight ticket and any previous correspondence with the airline. If the airline gave you a reason for the cancellation/delay/denied boarding, we’d love to hear it.
Some airlines are quick to pay flight compensation and we only need to send 1-2 reminders before payment is made. In the best case scenario, you can have your money within a couple of weeks. It’s to your advantage that the airlines know us, as we have been handling such flight compensation cases for more than 10 years.
Other airlines speculate on making it as difficult as possible for passengers to get the flight compensation they are entitled to. They want to delay payment as much as possible, and in worst cases, we wont get money to you until The Bailiff’s court.
What you need to know is that we fight for you, and if it takes 18-24 months before you get your money, it’s certainly not with our good will.

As a law firm, we can of course take the case all the way through the legal system, and the case does not have to change hands along the way.
In the event of a flight cancellation or delay, the airline must provide you with meals and accommodation on its own initiative.
If this does not happen, you may, if you have paid for e.g. meals and refreshments, hotel accommodation and/or transportation between airports, be reimbursed for your expenses if they were necessary, appropriate and reasonable.
The airline is ONLY obliged to cover such expenses that can be undoubtedly documented. You should therefore keep receipts showing what was purchased and when. Remember that the airline is not obliged to cover the purchase of beer, wine and spirits, even in connection with meals.
In principle, you don’t need help from anyone to raise your claim with the airline.
However, if you find that the airline is not responding to your inquiries or rejecting your claim, we can help you.

In Denmark, claims for flight compensation are only time-barred after 3 years. Claims for reimbursement of expenses are time-barred after 2 years. As a starting point, the deadline is calculated from the time of cancellation/delay.
Your claim for flight compensation is the same regardless of where or how you purchased the flight tickets. The claim is also made against the airline in such cases.
