Rescheduling your trip
In the event of a flight cancellation, you have some rights. For example, according to Article 8 of the Air Regulation, you have the right to choose whether you want your flight ticket to be refunded or re-routed.
If you choose to have your flight ticket refunded, this must be done within 7 days.
If you choose re-routing, the airline is obliged to re-route you under comparable transport conditions to your final destination.
Rebooking must be done at the earliest opportunity, which means that the airline must – if necessary – book you on another airline (if that is the fastest way to get there). In other words, you shouldn’t have to wait for one of the airline’s own flights if another airline can get you there earlier.
The airline is not fulfilling its obligations under the Air Regulation. The airline is not fulfilling its obligations under the Airline Regulation by sending you a link to the airline’s own website where you can search for new tickets yourself.
If the airline offers you re-routing to your final destination on an alternative flight, the compensation you may be entitled to may be reduced by 50% if the re-routing means that the arrival time does not exceed the scheduled arrival time of the originally booked flight
- By 2 hours for all flights of 1,500 km or less,
- By 3 hours for all intra-EU flights of more than 1,500 km and for all other flights of 1,500-3,500 km; or
- By 4 hours for all flights that do not fall under the above.
