When are you entitled to flight compensation from Delta Airlines?
You are entitled to flight compensation in certain cases when your flight is delayed, canceled or if you are denied boarding. The rules for compensation are set out in EU Regulation (EC) 261/2004 and apply 1) for flights departing from an airport located in Europe or 2) if you arrive at an airport in Europe with a European airline.
As Delta Airlines is a US airline, your right to flight compensation depends on whether the cancellation takes place from an airport inside or outside Europe.
If your return flight with Delta Airlines from Washington, for example, is canceled, you are not covered by the Air Travel Regulation and are therefore not entitled to flight compensation.
My Delta Airlines flight has been canceled
If your Delta Airlines flight is canceled and you are not informed at least 14 days before departure, you may be entitled to compensation.
The compensation from Delta Airlines depends on the length of the flight and is either 250 Euro, 400 Euro or 600 Euro.
In addition to compensation, you are also entitled to a rebooking or refund of your flight ticket.
